Thou Knowest’ is a fierce story of sexual violence, the performance industry and female friendship. Modelled off the real life experiences and testimonies of women in the performance industry, it is a piece that tells the truth about societal issues that are so often silenced.

Through a combination of movement performance with Shakespeare’s well known Juliet speech and contemporary dialogue, it challenges the abuse of power imbalances and the crimes of sexual violence that are committed against women at the hands of their superiors. At its core, it portrays the emotional journeys of women when overcoming such violations, and the strength they find in female friendship.

The story follows the character Heather, the trials and challenges she faces within everyday life and in the performance industry after an experience with sexual violence, and her journey of reclaiming her body, with the help of her bestfriend, Grace.

Directed and Produced by Darcey Ophelia. Co-Directed by Samuel Lydon Blair.
