For thirteen year old ghost hunter Billy, living people are… tough. Mum and dad are fighting, the other kids are dumb, and spending evenings with Granny’s ghost is getting pretty LAME. Billy wants YOU to come along to the most haunted gaff in town, for some real paranormal activity (no mums allowed).
Armed with a camcorder and a walkie-talkie, Billy is setting up for the filming of their weekly TV show I AM NIGHTBOY, where abandoned buildings are broken into, spirits are contacted, and normally, it’s only Nan’s ghost that picks up the line.
But tonight is abnormal: an audience has actually shown up. For the first time. Now the thing Billy needs is some actual ghosts and ghouls to make an appearance, right?
Theatremaker Roseby Franklin, and writer/director Hayley-Rose, previously creative partners under Incept Collective for many years, are making their debut play as DOGROSE Productions, with NIGHTBOY: an intermedial horror-clown show inspired by a mutual love of awful paranormal reality TV shows, that touches on otherness, grief and courage in the face of evil. Expect live footage, shadow puppetry, and some freaky entities. Billy totally will not p*ss their pants in front of a live audience – let alone a dead one.
Praise for ‘Isolated Incident’ at the Camden Fringe, written and directed by Hayley-Rose: ‘a deeply touching and riveting production…with breath-taking staging‘ Shiny Life Reviews.
Audience feedback for ‘Incept Does Nativity’ at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, created by Roseby Franklin and the cast: ‘The funniest sh*t I’ve ever seen‘ and ‘Truly ridiculous and joyful…I’m still thinking about it‘.
