What’s the worst Christmas you can think of?
For Cleo, Ginny and Ellie, three estranged sisters, this Christmas might set a new record. All three sisters have experienced childhoods that still linger with them to this day with parents all of them would prefer not to acknowledge. As such, coming together after 10 years apart may seem impossible. But it’s Christmas and for better or worse, they’re still family and they have much to discuss.
However, any plans to bury the hatchet are soon derailed; the patriarch of their family and leader of local biker gang, Auggie has just been released from prison and is on his way home. What could have been a simple Christmas gathering turns into an all-out war between family members, with sides being chosen, opinions being thrown around like weapons and traumas being unearthed for the first time.
Based on Agamemnon and Electra, Nocebo Theatre Company weaves Greek tragedy and naturalism with a script built from improvisation contributed by the three central actors portraying the sisters. With techniques inspired by Mike Leigh and Katie Mitchell, this is Nocebo’s first production with a script built by the actors through improvisation and backstory.
